GCU Library scholarly databases
Databases are some of the basic essentials that higher learning institutions develop to facilitate and advance research. The Grand Canyon University is one of the great institutions that has advanced its research development through the GCU library. There are multiple databases in the library which allow students from different academic fields to access different research materials. Some of the GCU Library scholarly databases include Education resource center (ERIC), PsycINFO, PubMed, Cochrane and TRIP among others. The Cochrane database is the first I would prefer to utilize to find the best research articles in my capstone project proposal. The database gives access to articles containing an up-to-date information concerning the effectiveness of healthcare related interventions thus fully supporting evidence based practice (Morelli, 2021). In addition, the database contains peer reviewed journals and articles that contain interventions that can apply to specific set of disorders only. The second resource of evidence based practice that I would utilize is the TRIP database. The databases from the GCU library have unique desirable features that distinguish them from google scholar or the general internet search. The first benefit of utilizing the two databases is that they put more emphasis on evidence based practices thus implying integration that employs expertise in clinical practice (Shahzad, 2019). The databases therefore contain quality research work that facilitate the best patient outcomes compared to google scholar and the general internet search. Moreover, the databases are structured to facilitate a faster appraise of evidence by nurses before the actual integration into clinical practice. In most electronic databases such as google scholar, the database searches are done through the general search of the common terms of the topic of concern (Fearrien, 2022). In contrary, database searches in GCU library are usually done through a systematic method. The searches in the GCU library are specific to the strategies of implementation as well as implementation of journal science.
In a recap, library databases play an important role in the development and advancement of research especially in nursing practice. Most higher learning institutions have developed virtual libraries such as the GCU library where resources can be easily retrieved. The GCU library is a good example that constitutes multiple databases that contain evidence based practice resources. The library has a systematic arrangement that facilitate an easier integration of evidence and its application into clinical practice.
