This course was designed to help build your skill set in treating trauma and trauma responses as it ties to your worldview and counseling identity. As doctoral students, it is imperative that you develop a trauma-informed approach to both the teaching and practice of interventions that are empirically validated in their efficacy with clients.

This first assignment is intended to engage you as a clinician or as an educator as you approach this course. The assignment is intended to help you engage in the course learning as you consider how a Christian worldview fits in with treatments that are empirically validated to treat trauma. As you engage in this reading and study, this first assignment it will help you as you begin to synthesize the reading and learning as you approach the topics. Treatments for Trauma Psychology The assignment offers you the same freedom you will experience throughout this course—to explore the topics as they relate to your own personal theory of counseling and how the learning will impact your work with clients who have suffered trauma. This, and all assignments in the course, should be written in current APA formatting and include a scholarly review of what you have read that specifically is impacting your conceptualization of trauma, how it fits with a Christian worldview, and the treatment of trauma and trauma responses in clients.

As noted in the course, you do not have to read and review all 3 treatment modalities in the first four Module: Weeks (Prolonged Exposure Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for Reflection Journal Assignment: Modality Choice, but rather you choose the model you want to really focus on learning.

After you read your texts and review your online materials for Module 1: Week 1, you will consider what you already know about trauma-informed approaches to therapy and how your current knowledge and what you are reading fit with your worldview.

(a) What specific tenants of trauma-informed treatments are related to your conceptualization of trauma and trauma treatment and your worldview as you approach the course learning. Use references to support how you came to these conclusions.
