back home.
Dorothy goes to the good witch of the south, Glinda, as her last resort and asks for help. Glinda

The Wizard of Oz
The publication of the Wizard of OZ in 1900 by franklin Baum and later releases an impact-full movie in 1939, was an enduring part of the history in America. Over the years, both the film and the book expressed many theories in the daily lives of Americans. Some of the influenced factors are political, spiritual, and some involve money. Here are some of the topics/purposes expressed in this book, The Wizard of OZ.
Parable on American money systems and populism. This part of the reading is seen in The wizard of oz, where a movement of populists collapsed in America in the twentieth century (Douglas, Wallace & Barden, 2018). This is presented in the book, where Dorothy plays a role as being an ordinary citizen, Tin representing industrial worker, ScarecrowScarecrow stands for farmers, and the Lion is the politician of the day William Brian Jennings seen as a person who only talks but doesn’t act. Another significant purpose of the book has relied on Religious believes. Over the years the wizard of Oz has been ranked high by many Christians as a tool of faith. Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Essay Considering, characters encountering different attempts of sin and temptations along the way, which is described as some kind of heaven. The killing of the wicked witch by water signified baptism. Another purpose was to bring the concept of feminist. Considering the fact that everyone in OZ who had the real power was Dorothy and the witches who were all female. It also noted the input of men as people who lack some understanding, signified in the wizard without any power, the Lion that is not courageous, tin men people without hearts, and scarecrows mean people without a brain. Another purpose expressed is the inadequacy of Adults (Douglas, Wallace & Barden, 2018). This is noted that what makes the book wizard of OZ accessible amongst adult is that it expresses the weakness of adults as seen where Auntie Em and Uncle Henry are unable to save Toto and even wizard’s powerlessness.
In summary, Dorothy is a young orphan girl who lived under the care of her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. She lived in a small one-room with her loved dog Toto. Suddenly a tsunami strikes while they were still in the house and carried it away for a long distance (Derry, 2016). When the housed landed, Dorothy realized she was in a beautiful land surrounded by short and strangely dressed people. On arrival, Dorothy is informed by the witch that she is in the area of Munchkins, and they are grateful to her for killing the witch of the east, leading to their freedom. Dorothy is given a silver shoe by the witch of the north, and the shoes belong to a dead witch. She is then advised to go to the city of Emeralds and see the great wizard Oz, who will help her trace her way back to Kansas.
During their journey to Emerald City, Dorothy, together with Toto are accompanied by the Scarecrow Scarecrow, who wished of having a brain, Tin woodman who wished he had a heart and the Lion who wanted to of having courage. Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Essay They faced many challenges along their way, but they managed to overcome all the problems because Tin Woodman was kind, Scarecrow Scarecrow had good sense, and Coward lion has the courage (Derry, 2016). Finally they reached the city of Emerald, where they were given green lensed glasses by the Guardian of the gates which leads them to palace of oz. They were all frustrated as OZ tells them they won’t be helped until the witch from the west is dead. They all head to the land of Winkie’s which is ruled by the wicked witch of the west. The witch sends armed Winkie’s and bees to stop them unfortunately all goes in vain (Evans, Hill & Voss, 2017). She tried to use her golden cap in summoning the winged monkeys, and it destroys the Tin woodman, ScarecrowScarecrow, and the cage the coward lion. But they take Dorothy and Toto to the witch where they are enslaved. Finally, Dorothy escapes, then together with her friends, they went to seek the help of Glinda, the witch from the south. Who summons them to Winged monkeys for Tin Woodman to be taken back and rule the Winkies, then ScarecrowScarecrow to Emerald City and Lion to the forest to be the king of the jungle. She then tells Dorothy to use the silver shoes will take her back to Kansas. Dorothy took up Toto and clicks the heels three times, and she is transported back home farm in Kansas together with Toto.
The Wizard of Oz over the years have expressed many theories in the daily lives of Americans. Some of the impacting factors are political, spiritual, and some are monetary. Some of the methods that support the evaluation/interpretation of the Wizard of Oz are discussed. First, Atheism theory, this theory touches almost all components such as Religious but gives a description oppositely that God, who is represented as the wizard, is not real, and spirituality is an illusion (Derry, 2016). Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Essay This theory is expressed in the book better, where OZ is focusing more on fantasy. Another method that is explained is to bring the concept of feminist — because everyone in OZ who had the real power was Dorothy and the witches who were all female. It also noted the input of men as people who lack some understanding, signified in the wizard without any power, the Lion that is not courageous, tin men people without hearts, and scarecrows mean people without a brain.
Theory of Glinda Conspiracy. Over many interpretations have been opposing opinions that support Glinda, the good witch, who might be the real villain of oz. Some alluding to the fact that Glinda was happy over the death of the wicked witch from the east by calling for a celebration (Melosi, 2018). Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Essay Even though Glinda knew that the ruby slippers would send Dorothy home, she still carries her to go and do dirty work for her, so that she can finally rule her land of oz. Interestingly, The Wizard of Oz seems to be entirely in this book, but in the new film, the witch of the east presented herself as the good witch and sent OZ to kill Glinda, the good witch. Another purpose expressed is the inadequacy of Adults. This is noted that what makes the book wizard of OZ accessible amongst adult is that it shows the weakness of adults as seen where Auntie Em and Uncle Henry are unable to save Toto and even wizard’s powerlessness.
Wizard of Oz also relates to the relevant section in the gathering against the gold standard, and this is implied in the psychoanalytic theory of Jung. Dorothy’s dream is directed towards self-realization, and this corresponded to the first three stages of Jung’s theory of Animus, a male in the personality of a female. Meanwhile, the witch Glinda responds to Jungian as the mother, Toto being the trick master and Wicked witch together with her flying monkeys are Jung’s shadow, representing the dark side of the personality. Parable on American monetary systems and populism (Melosi, 2018). This part of the reading is seen in the wizard of oz, where a movement of populists collapsed in America in the twentieth century. This is presented in the book, where Dorothy plays a role as being an ordinary citizen, Tin representing industrial worker, ScarecrowScarecrow stands for farmers, and the Lion is the politician of the day William Brian Jennings seen as a person who only talks but doesn’t act.
Hope is also interpreted in this book, and this is viewed where Dorothy was on her way, and she met and befriended ScarecrowScarecrow, who is in search of the brain, Tinman, who is looking for heart and Coward lion who is I need of courage. Both the named creatures represented the human being in real life who are male characters (Foster, 2017). During their journey, they are tormented by the witch but finally managed to reach their destinations, which is Emerald City. Dorothy Wizard Of Oz Essay Earlier before, the wizard of Oz granted their wishes but was told first to bring the wicked witch of the west. After a long battle, flying monkeys infiltrated into their castle, where Dorothy slashed a bucket of water to the witch, making her melt into piddle. Dorothy and her friends managed to turn back with the broomstick only to know that the witch is a fraud, having no real powers. But with the help of her magical slippers, Dorothy returns to Kansas, where she feels great being that it is home. From the theory, despite the number of challenges that Dorothy and her friends faced, they managed to reach their destinations. Another significant purpose of the book has relied on Religious believes. Over the years, the wizard of Oz has been ranked high by many Christians as a tool of faith. She is considering characters encountering different attempts of sin and temptations along the way, which is described as some heaven. The killing of the wicked witch by water signified baptism.
Last but not least, the wizard of Oz also evaluates the sudden force of calamities. This is signified when Dorothy decided to run away from her Uncle’s farmhouse together with her dog Toto (Foster, 2017). After that, she is knocked down during a tornado and fells unconscious. When she wakes up along with her dog Toto and the farmhouse, she finds herself at the Land of Oz, a magical place covered with strange characters such as Munchkins, talking trees, and witches.
In conclusion, the wizard of Oz was used to express many theories that allude to the social life of the current Americans. It interprets the monetary policy, the religious belief, Atheist beliefs, hopes that are there for everyone, Conspiracy of Glinda, and, most importantly, the courage. The interpreted factors impacted lives on political perspectives, spiritual beliefs, and monetary values (Evans, Hill & Voss, 2017). The wizard of Oz teaches on how to endure characters such as courage since the Lion asked for courage and a willing heart to help others just like the Tin Woodman. Finally embracing the importance of having the brain to assist us in critical thinking, just like the ScarecrowScarecrow asked for the brain during the harsh and tempting journey. The wizard of Oz plays an essential role in helping the Americans to build their faith and believes since, through hope and belief, is when Dorothy and her friends got home with rewards.
