You have taken a very interesting approach by starting with the developmental aspect of psychopathology. You have gone to the intrauterine phase to begin with in which case it is true that events that occur in utero and during birth can actually lead to the development of psychopathology (Stahl, 2013). Factors such as trauma and drug/ alcohol abuse by a pregnant mother can indeed affect the mental status of the developing child.
While on the above, you have also correctly touched on the way genetics affects the development of psychopathology. I agree with you that children raised in institutions such as foster care may be so psychologically affected that they develop chronic stress and anxiety leading to antisocial behavior. Psychopaths have been known to have this kind of difficult childhood. Indeed, adverse environments negatively impact the psychology of children and will clearly lead to the development of psychopathology.
Socio-cultural factors and interpersonal relations are also part of the reasons for the development of psychopathology. You have aptly stated and explained how this happens. I agree that emotional and behavioral disorders are the result of social profiling and stigma. These lead to anxiety, stress, and eventually depression or antisocial behavior. Interpersonally, interactions with significant others such as parents that are alcoholics will also have a profound influence on whether a person will end up taking up alcoholism or substance abuse too in the future (Su et a., 2018). The dysfunction in these interactions may also lead to psychological dysfunction on the affected child or person.
