Discussion: Elevator Speech
Have you ever been in a situation where you wish you’d said something differently? Perhaps in a job interview when asked to tell the interviewer about yourself, or maybe on a first date, or when questioned during an academic or professional presentation. Any of these scenarios can leave you thinking afterward about your reply, wondering if you said something the way you intended or if you could have presented it in a better manner. In situations like these, an elevator speech can come to the rescue. A well-developed elevator speech that is clear and succinct can be a lifesaver when you are looking for the right words.

For this Discussion, you examine the role of an elevator speech in defending your idea for a new healthcare product or service. You also develop a speech that will help set your idea apart as memorable, unique, and of value to the organization.
To Prepare
Reflect on the most significant talking points about the healthcare product or service solution you have proposed. These points should be those you think will educate decision makers and other stakeholders on the benefits of your idea as well as clarify the business case (including financial points, budgetary impacts, SWOT takeaways, cost-benefit analysis takeaways, etc.). Consider how you might highlight these significant talking points in an elevator speech to stakeholders. Robotic System Discussion Paper
By Day 3 of Week 9
Start by writing a summary that defines major points you want to include in the elevator speech. This summary should be supported with scholarly references and properly formatted to meet the rubric standards. Use the summary to identify significant talking points that you will use for your elevator speech. Post a 2- to 3-paragraph draft of an “elevator speech” designed to both educate and “sell” decision makers on the healthcare product or service you have proposed. Your elevator speech summary should address what you believe are the significant talking points necessary to educate decision makers and other stakeholders on the benefits of your idea as well as clarify the business case. Remember, an elevator speech should be approximately 30-60 seconds
Elevator Speech: Davinci Robotic System
Hi, I am _____, a nurse at your organization. It is great to have this meeting with you. Having worked as a nurse in the surgical unit of this facility, I noticed that some of the complex and delicate surgical procedures are difficult or impossible to perform at the facility. The result is that patients have to be referred to other facilities for complex and delicate surgeries. In fact, approximately 10% of the patients who visit the facility for surgical needs are referred to other facilities because of an inability to meet their needs owing to instrumentation shortcomings and lack of capacity. This has caused the facility to loose potential revenue, not to talk of the lost opportunity to build a brand image (Hashimoto, Rosman & Meireles, 2021).
To address this concern, there is a need for the facility to install a Davinci Robotic System. This system would offer the surgical department an advanced set of instruments to help with performing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. This system would be preferred because it makes it possible for surgeons to perform operations through one or a few small incisions. Besides that, the system’s acquisition extends beyond the acquisition to comprehensive and ongoing training, education and support for the surgical teams (Intuitive Surgical, 2022).
Robotic surgery is not a new concept. In fact, it has grained traction as a preferred tool. That is because it offers unique advantages. Firstly, it makes it possible to perform complex and delicate surgical procedures through minimally invasive surgery. Secondly, it has fewer complications for the patients, such as a small wound that reduces opportunities for surgical site infection. Thirdly, faster patient recovery and shorter hospital stay. Fourthly, increased precision for more accurate surgical procedures. Fifthly, fewer and smaller scars for the patients. Sixthly, less blood loss. Finally, reduced post-surgery pain. These are significant benefits that will be useful for the facility (Abedin-Nasab, 2019).
Overall, I think that Davinci Robotic System would be really helpful for this facility in terms of providing minimally invasive surgical procedures.
