I have analyzed the relationship between academic integrity and writing, as well as the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics. I have also identified strategies I intend to pursue to maintain integrity and ethics of my academic work while a student of the MSN program, as well as my professional work as a nurse throughout my career. Explanation for the relationship between academic integrity and writing

Academic integrity and writing have a close relationship. In fact, academic integrity focuses on writing in the academic environment with an expectation that all students would present moral and honest behavior. The link between the two (academic integrity and writing) centers on collecting ideas from different sources and presenting them in an original manner that acknowledges the sources while avoiding plagiarism. This is mainly achieved by applying paraphrasing to avoiding similarities in sentences, phrases and word combinations (Robinson & Breen, 2020).

Explanation for the relationship between professional practices and scholarly ethics

Professional practice and scholarly ethics have a close relationship. In school, students are expected to maintain scholarly ethics. Through practice, students acquire the necessary skills to conform to scholarly ethics expectations as they write exams, complete assignments and conduct research. Overtime, the students become more proficient and apply the same skills even as they leave school and enter into the job market as professionals. To be more precise, scholarly ethics presents students with standards and rules they are expected to follow within the academic environment to maintain the academic integrity. As the students leave the school, they realize that the rules and standards characterizing scholarly ethics are also present in the professional environment because of integrity expectations. This is especially the case with professional writing where the same expectations of avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing and acknowledging all information sources apply (Oermann & Gaberson, 2019).

Explain how Grammarly, Safe Assign, and paraphrasing contributes to academic integrity

Grammarly, Safe Assign and paraphrasing contribute to academic integrity as regards presenting original compositions, avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing, and acknowledging the sources of information. Grammarly helps in this regard by identifying plagiarism cases, suggesting improvements to the grammar, and identifying the sources of information. Safe Assign also serves a similar function to Grammarly. With these two tools (Grammarly and Safe Assign), an individual can either paraphrase the plagiarized text, and delete the section. Also, the individual can correctly present the sources of information. In this respect, Grammarly and Safe Assign contribute to academic integrity by identifying plagiarism, suggesting grammar changes and identifying sources of information, while paraphrasing contributes by changing the word combination without distorting the underlying message being communicated.

Part 2: Strategies for Maintaining Integrity of Work

There are four strategies that are helpful for maintaining integrity and ethics of academic work as a student. Firstly, paraphrasing so that plagiarism is eliminated. Secondly, using Grammarly and Safe Assign to check for plagiarism and suggestions for improving grammar. Thirdly, acknowledging and correctly citing all sources of information. Finally, making use of the library resources to access different sources of information (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2019).

There are three strategies that are helpful for maintaining integrity and ethics of professional work as a nurse. Firstly, being familiar with the nursing professional standards and principles as published by the American Nurses Association and other professional nursing organizations. This is important for understanding the write conduct and rules to be observed when practicing as a nurse. Secondly, continuing with nursing education at higher levels to become more familiar with the current nursing standards and principles even as they are revised. Thirdly, becoming familiar with the organization culture and work environment. This is helpful for understanding what to is acceptable within the workplace (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2019).

There are three resources that are useful to nursing students and professionals. Firstly, a library that offers access to nursing publications. Secondly, membership in professional nursing organizations that offer resources such as research grants, networking, scholarships, academic opportunities, conferences and so on (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2019). Thirdly, software to check for plagiarism and improve grammar, such as Grammarly, Safe Assign and Turnitin.
