Importance of the Monocytes Discussion Paper
Monocytes in the largest phagocytic white blood cell with an oval nucleus and a clear, greyish cytoplasm. They are located in the bloodstream and tissues to identify and kill germs and remove the infected cells. They have to work with other blood cells to assist in injury treatment like the macrophages and neutrophils. Doing exercises helps to increase the functioning of the monocytes since they bridge the inflammation and anti-inflammatory. Thus this is a detailed discussion of the importance or functioning of the monocytes within the immune system.
Monocytes help to fight the homeostatic mechanisms which lead to the accumulation of leukocytes leading to inflammation. Macrophages produce the inflammatory mediators and the cytokine that functions in the production of neutrophils eosinophils and basophils is limited while the production of a useful regulatory cytokine is increased. Neutrophils in the skin ensure the healing of the wounds hence providing resolution of tissue inflammation. The interconnection between the neutrophils and monocytes enables the body to fight against diseases and protect against foreign pathogens. Importance of the Monocytes Discussion Paper
Neutrophils and monocytes help the body to fight against the disease of arteries which is marked by the introduction of fatty materials on their inner walls. The growth of the fatty materials leads to the narrowing of the vascular lumen and this leads to a reduction of the supply of blood to the brain, hence the brain starts lacking enough oxygen and nutrients and the cells within the brain start to pass on. Therefore monocytes provide the production of the pro-inflammatory and the reactive oxygen species thus removing the fatty materials and ensuring that there is a proper supply of the nutrients within the brain (Kumar et al., 2018).
Also, they help a lot within the kidney to protect the glomeruli which perform many functions such as removal of excess fluid, waste from the bloodstream and passing them into the urine from inflammation of the glomeruli. This disease leads to the injury of the patient and even needs surgical performance. Monocytes and macrophages ensure that there is no accumulation of neutrophils within the glomeruli hence preventing the glomeruli disorders.
Monocytes help prevent the absorption of bacteria by phagocytes, other microorganisms, and the giving of antigens to T-cells. Through this, they ensure the innating of the immune system and provide adaptive measures for the immune response. Monocytes referee the inflammatory response operated in the absorption of bacteria and the killing power.
Monocytes work together with the neutrophils, macrophages, and dendritic cells to provide innation of the immune response. Neutrophils ensure the faster flow of the fluid through the capillary tubes within the bone marrow. Also, higher production of neutrophils in the blood can lead to neutrophilia. The effect of neutrophilia is that it can lead to infection or inflammation within the immune system. Macrophages help in the provision of antimicrobial initiators that help in the innate immune system. They help in the removal of the dead cells and the elimination of diseased cells within the body. Macrophages function with the monocytes help to heal the wounds by the formation of the blood clots to prevent excessive bleeding (Guilliams, M., Mildner, A., & Yona, S. (2018).
Patients are likely to face disorders when there is a low concentration of monocytes. Now the body experiences autoimmune because the body is attacked by germs and there are not enough monocytes to fight the entry of the viruses and bacteria. The patient is also likely to face blood disorders, cancer, infection, and inflammation. Blood disorders may result due to excessive bleeding since the body experiences low concentrations of monocytes and are unable to form the blood clots.
Cancer has led to the death of many patients and even led to the death of somebody parts making patients stop functioning properly as usual. Due to the lack of enough monocytes to secrete the mediators and the development of new blood cells within the body making it is not worth antitumoral immunity. Also, there is the danger of infection since the body fighting against the diseases is very weak due to the low concentration of monocytes.
Thus the outlined discussion shows the importance of the white blood cells and their different types within the blood. It shows how the low concentration of white blood cells within the body may be a risk to the life of people. Without the white blood cells, the body may fail or not be able to fight against the entry of germs. People are now sure that they should look for treatment earlier when the white blood cells fail to fight against a certain disease.
