Industrial Safety Health Management Essay Paper
Upon examining the stairwell where I work, I noticed that there is a lot of dirt, graffiti, and some miscellaneous trash. The trash included mainly left over garbage from meals that workers had. However, there were also fire extinguishers and lighted sign exits. It is likely that organizations have difficulty keeping stairwells clean and clear because a majority of janitors and cleaning staff do not go to these areas, not expecting that they will be dirty because in a regular situation, people shouldn’t be accessing them. Industrial Safety Health Management Essay Paper A second problem is that this stairwell is not managed by an individual company in my building; rather, we share the building with several other firms.
While there is a problem concerning keeping the common areas of the building clean to some extent because of its shared inhabitance, the building’s owner occasionally hires a cleaning company to take care of this. To fix this situation, it’s important to inform the building manager of the situation in the stairwell near the exits and to post signs near these exits warning people against littering because it could be a fire hazard.
